# What happens when your wallet reaches zero

> When an Ownkube Compute wallet reaches zero, every service pauses with its data kept and the owner gets a daily reminder. Adding credit resumes everything. After 7 days paused, Compute resources and their data are deleted.

When your Ownkube Compute wallet reaches zero, every service in the account pauses and its data is kept. The owner gets a reminder email each day. Adding credit, from a \$5 top-up, or the next monthly plan load resumes everything. If the account stays paused for 7 days, its Compute resources and their data are deleted.

Usage is drawn from the wallet and checked every few hours, so a busy account can dip a little below zero before it pauses. The next top-up or plan load covers that amount.

## Timeline

## A budget pause is the safe stop

A [spend limit](/docs/billing/cost-control#spend-limits) set to **Pause everything** stops every workload when month-to-date spend reaches your budget, and a budget pause never deletes anything. Set the budget below your usual balance and the pause fires before the wallet runs dry. Spending alerts email the owner at 50%, 80% and 100% of the budget.

## Questions

**Does unused credit expire?** No. Unused wallet credit rolls over to the next month and never expires. Promo credit can carry an end date set by its campaign.

**Can I get data back after the 7 days?** No. Deletion is permanent. If you plan to leave an account unfunded, export your data first, for example with `pg_dump` over [`okctl connect`](/docs/deployments/shell#connect-to-a-database-or-cache).

**Is there a free tier that keeps running at zero?** No. Ownkube Compute has no free usage. Every resource draws on wallet credit.
