Supabase pricing has two layers. A plan fee (Free at $0, Pro from $25 a month, Team from $599 a month) sets the quotas for database disk, egress, monthly active users and file storage. On top of that, each project bills compute by the hour for the size it runs on, from about $10 a month for Micro to about $3,730 for 16XL. Paid plans include $10 of compute credit a month, which covers one Micro project.
This post walks through each line on a Supabase bill, from Supabase’s pricing page and billing docs as of 2026-10-27, and works three monthly bills.
TL;DR
- Free is $0 for two active projects with a 500 MB database, and a project pauses after a week of inactivity.
- Pro starts at $25 a month and includes $10 of compute credit, 8 GB of disk per project, 250 GB of egress and 100,000 monthly active users.
- Compute is per project, per hour. The $10 credit is per organization, so a second project adds its full compute price.
- Point-in-time recovery is $100 a month for each 7 days of retention, on top of the plan.
- One small production project lands around $25 a month. Add a staging project, a bigger compute size and point-in-time recovery, and the bill passes $180.
What are Supabase’s plans?
| Plan | Price | Database disk | Egress | Monthly active users | Backups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 500 MB | 5 GB | 50,000 | None |
| Pro | from $25 a month | 8 GB per project | 250 GB | 100,000 | Daily, kept 7 days |
| Team | from $599 a month | 8 GB per project | 250 GB | 100,000 | Daily, kept 14 days |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Free and Pro each also include 1 GB and 100 GB of file storage, plus the same amount of cached egress as plain egress (5 GB on Free, 250 GB on Pro).
The Free plan allows two active projects. A project that sees no activity for a week is paused, and paused projects do not count toward the limit, so you can unpause one when you need it.
Team is Pro’s quotas plus organization features, such as longer backup retention, at a price aimed at companies. Most solo developers and small teams compare Free against Pro.
How does Supabase compute pricing work?
Every project runs on a compute size, billed by the hour while the project runs. Supabase’s list prices:
| Size | CPU | Memory | Hourly | About a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | Shared | up to 0.5 GB | $0 on Free | $0 on Free |
| Micro | Shared | 1 GB | $0.01344 | $10 |
| Small | Shared | 2 GB | $0.0206 | $15 |
| Medium | Shared | 4 GB | $0.0822 | $60 |
| Large | 2 dedicated vCPUs | 8 GB | $0.1517 | $110 |
| XL | 4 dedicated vCPUs | 16 GB | $0.2877 | $210 |
| 2XL | 8 dedicated vCPUs | 32 GB | $0.562 | $410 |
| 4XL | 16 dedicated vCPUs | 64 GB | $1.32 | $960 |
| 16XL | 64 dedicated vCPUs | 256 GB | $5.12 | $3,730 |
The step from Small to Medium is the one to watch. Memory doubles from 2 GB to 4 GB, and the price goes from about $15 to about $60.
Compute credit is per organization
Paid plans include $10 of compute credit a month. It covers one Micro project and does not multiply with the number of projects.
Nano bills as Micro on a paid plan
On Pro, a Nano project bills at the Micro rate.
Paused projects bill no compute
Pausing a project stops the compute meter.
What does Supabase charge past the quotas?
| Resource | Pro and Team rate past the quota |
|---|---|
| Database disk | $0.125 per GB |
| Egress | $0.09 per GB |
| Cached egress | $0.03 per GB |
| Monthly active users | $0.00325 per user |
| File storage | $0.0213 per GB |
| Point-in-time recovery | $100 a month per 7 days of retention |
Disk is the line most projects grow into first. Every project includes 8 GB, and past that each GB is $0.125 a month. Supabase also bills disk IOPS past 3,000 and throughput past 125 MB/s, which matters only for heavy write loads.
Point-in-time recovery replaces the daily backup with a restore to any second in the window. At $100 a month for 7 days, it often costs more than the compute it protects.
Does Supabase have a spend cap?
Yes, on Pro, and it is on by default. With the cap on, usage past a quota stops until the next billing cycle instead of billing as overage. You can turn the cap off to pay for overage instead.
The cap covers usage lines: disk size, egress, monthly active users, file storage, realtime, edge function invocations and logs. It does not cover compute, read replica compute, branching compute, point-in-time recovery, custom domains, IPv4 addresses or extra disk IOPS. Supabase leaves those out because you turn them on yourself. So a project on a large compute size bills that size even with the cap on.
What do real Supabase bills look like?
All three use Pro and assume each project runs all month.
A side project on Micro
One project on Micro, 3 GB of data, 40 GB of egress and 2,000 users.
| Line | Monthly |
|---|---|
| Pro plan | $25 |
| Micro compute | $10 |
| Compute credit | -$10 |
| Total | $25 |
Everything fits inside the Pro quotas, so the bill is the plan fee.
A growing app on Small
One project on Small, 20 GB of data, 300 GB of egress and 7-day point-in-time recovery.
| Line | Monthly |
|---|---|
| Pro plan | $25 |
| Small compute | $15 |
| Compute credit | -$10 |
| Disk past 8 GB (12 GB at $0.125) | $1.50 |
| Egress past 250 GB (50 GB at $0.09) | $4.50 |
| Point-in-time recovery, 7 days | $100 |
| Total | $136 |
Without point-in-time recovery, this bill is $36. The daily backups included with Pro still apply.
Production plus staging
A production project on Medium with 30 GB of data, and a staging project on Micro with 2 GB.
| Line | Monthly |
|---|---|
| Pro plan | $25 |
| Medium compute (production) | $60 |
| Micro compute (staging) | $10 |
| Compute credit | -$10 |
| Disk past 8 GB on production (22 GB at $0.125) | $2.75 |
| Total | $87.75 |
With 7-day point-in-time recovery on production, the total is $187.75.
What does the same Postgres cost elsewhere?
Supabase’s price includes auth, file storage, realtime and an auto-generated API. If your app uses those, the fair comparison is with another backend platform. If your app mostly uses the database behind its own API server, compare the database alone.
| Database size | Supabase Pro | Ownkube | Neon Launch (always on) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB memory, 8 GB data | $25 (Micro, inside the credit) | $10 (DB 1 at $8, plus 8 GB at $0.25) | about $22 |
| 2 GB memory, 20 GB data | $31.50 (Small) | $17 (DB 2 at $12, plus 20 GB) | about $46 (0.5 CU) |
| 4 GB memory, 30 GB data | $77.75 (Medium) | $35.50 (DB 4 at $28, plus 30 GB) | about $88 (1 CU) |
Supabase figures include the $25 plan fee and the $10 credit. Neon bills $0.106 per CU-hour on Launch, where a CU is about 4 GB of memory, plus $0.35 per GB-month of storage. See Neon vs Supabase for how the two compare on more than price, and Supabase vs Firebase for Firestore, which bills per read and write.
On Ownkube, the plan fee is credit you spend: Personal is $5 a month and loads $5 of credit into your wallet, and Team is $20 a month for $20 of credit. Database storage includes 7-day backups with point-in-time restore on Personal and Team, so there is no separate recovery line. Credit you do not use rolls over and never expires.
When is Supabase worth it?
Supabase is good value when you use the bundle. Auth with 100,000 monthly active users, 100 GB of file storage, realtime subscriptions and an API generated from your schema would each take time and money to set up separately. For a frontend that talks to the database directly, $25 a month covers a lot.
It costs more than it needs to when the app has its own backend and treats Supabase as a Postgres host. Then you pay the plan fee for features you do not use, and the backend runs on a second bill somewhere else.
Point-in-time recovery is the other cost to plan for. If your data needs a restore window shorter than a day, budget $100 a month per project for it, or pick a host that includes it with storage.
How Ownkube prices Postgres
Ownkube runs managed PostgreSQL 17 and 18 on flat database boxes, next to the app, workers and cron jobs that use it.
| Box | vCPU | Memory | Price a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| DB 0.5 | 0.25 | 0.5 GiB | $4 |
| DB 1 | 0.5 | 1 GiB | $8 |
| DB 2 | 0.5 | 2 GiB | $12 |
| DB 4 | 1 | 4 GiB | $28 |
| DB 8 | 2 | 8 GiB | $54 |
| DB 16 | 4 | 16 GiB | $104 |
Storage is $0.25 per GB a month from the first GB. A sleeping database bills storage only. On Team, a database can run a primary plus up to two standbys with automatic failover, and each standby bills as its own box plus its own storage. Pay as you go databases go up to DB 2 and have no backups.
Postgres extensions turn on from the database’s Settings tab, including pgvector for embeddings, PostGIS, pg_cron, pgmq and pg_trgm, so the extensions most Supabase projects use come with you. Ownkube does not include auth, file storage or realtime. Apps run in the Germany and Mumbai regions.
FAQ
How much does Supabase cost a month?
Free is $0. Pro starts at $25 a month and includes $10 of compute credit, which covers one Micro project, so one small project usually costs $25. Bigger compute sizes, extra projects, disk past 8 GB and point-in-time recovery add to that.
Is Supabase free?
Yes, for two active projects with a 500 MB database, 5 GB of egress and 50,000 monthly active users. Free projects pause after a week of inactivity and have no automatic backups.
Why is my Supabase bill higher than $25?
Usually because of compute. Each project bills its compute size by the hour, and the $10 credit covers one Micro project per organization. A second project, a Medium size or point-in-time recovery each add a fixed monthly amount.
Does the Supabase spend cap stop compute charges?
No. The spend cap covers usage lines such as disk, egress and monthly active users. Compute, read replicas, branching and point-in-time recovery bill whether the cap is on or off.
How much is point-in-time recovery on Supabase?
$100 a month for each 7 days of retention, per project, on Pro, Team and Enterprise.
What is a cheaper alternative to Supabase for Postgres?
For the database alone, look at a managed Postgres priced by size. A 1 GB database with 8 GB of data costs about $10 a month on Ownkube and about $22 on Neon, against $25 on Supabase Pro. Our Supabase alternatives guide covers the options, and managed Postgres pricing compared prices seven providers side by side.
Where Ownkube fits
If your Supabase project has become a Postgres database behind your own API, Ownkube runs both on one bill: the database on a flat box from $4 a month with backups in the storage price, and the API on compute billed per minute from a prepaid wallet.
