Python hosting
Push a Python repo and Ownkube builds it and runs it as a web app, a background worker, or a scheduled job. FastAPI and Flask apps get a public HTTPS hostname, workers run with no public endpoint, and a managed Postgres database is one click away.
Python hosting at a glance
- Automatic Python builds from requirements.txt or pyproject.toml, or your own Dockerfile.
- Web apps with Uvicorn or Gunicorn on port 8000, bound to 0.0.0.0.
- Workers and cron jobs for scripts, bots, and queue consumers.
- Metered per minute, so a script that idles most of the day costs very little CPU.
How to host a Python app on Ownkube
- 1
Connect the repo
Sign in, connect GitHub or GitLab, and pick the repo. Ownkube detects Python and builds it automatically.
- 2
Pick web, worker or job
A web app serves HTTP on a port. A worker runs continuously with no public endpoint. A job runs to completion on a schedule.
- 3
Deploy
Web apps go live on a *.ownkube.app hostname with HTTPS. Link Postgres or a Valkey cache and the connection variables appear in the environment.

What Python hosting costs
Metered usage bills about $18 per vCPU and $4.50 per GiB a month, per minute. Databases run on flat boxes plus $0.25 per GB of storage. Everything draws one prepaid wallet, and unused credit never expires.
| Workload | Setup | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Small FastAPI or Flask API | 0.1 vCPU average, 0.5 GiB held | about $4 |
| API with Postgres | Same app + DB 0.5 box ($4) + 5 GB storage ($1.25) | about $9.30 |
| Always-on Python worker or bot | 0.05 vCPU average, 0.25 GiB held | about $2 |
Estimates for one month of continuous running. See pricing for every box and rate.
How Ownkube compares for Python hosting
The smallest app plus a small managed Postgres on each platform, from each provider's public pricing page.
| Platform | App | Managed Postgres | Billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ownkube | Metered at about $18 per vCPU and $4.50 per GiB a month, or a $5 Spark 1 box | From $4 a month plus $0.25 per GB | Prepaid wallet, unused credit never expires |
| Railway | Metered at about $20 per vCPU and $10 per GB a month | Runs as a metered service plus $0.15 per GB volume | Postpaid, $5 Hobby plan includes $5 of usage |
| Render | From $7 a month (0.5 CPU, 512 MB) | From $6 a month plus $0.30 per GB | Postpaid, workspace plan from $0 |
| Fly.io | From $2.19 a month (shared-cpu-1x, 256 MB) | Managed from $38 a month plus $0.28 per GB | Postpaid, pay as you go |
| Heroku | Eco $5 or Basic $7 a month | Essential-0 from $5 a month | Postpaid, per dyno |

Where can I host a Python script 24/7?
Deploy it as a worker. A worker runs continuously with no public endpoint and restarts if it crashes. A small Python worker costs about $2 a month in metered usage on Ownkube.
How do I host a FastAPI app?
Push the repo, start Uvicorn with --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8000, and set port 8000 on the deployment. The FastAPI guide covers Gunicorn with Uvicorn workers for production.
Can I run a Python cron job?
Yes. Deploy the repo as a job with a schedule. A job runs to completion and bills only while it runs.
Can a Python web app sleep when idle?
Yes. A web app on a public hostname can sleep after an idle window you set and wakes on the next request. While asleep it meters no CPU or memory. Workers stay up all the time.
